Get those calculators charged up and ready for opening day of the Math Season on October 21st in Mrs. Carpenter’s Room 2103 during 10th period.
Returning competitors are aware of the format so show up ready to compete with your calculator and sharpened pencils. Math Competitions are part of the New York Math League and are held once on a month on a Tuesday during 10th period. Each competition challenges students with 6 problems that range from Algebra through Pre-Calculus. Competitors have 30 min to solve as many as they can and accumulate points throughout the 6 event season to try to claim the title of “Mathlete of the Year”. Senior Ian Baldwin was victorious last year and should be back this year to defend his hard won title. You do not have to compete in every challenge but the test can only be completed during the designated time slot.
New members are always welcome and students of all math abilities are encouraged to embrace the challenge and spend 10th period in pursuit of math excellence!
There is no cost to attend, snacks are usually provided. Don’t miss the chance to take the most fun math test of the month!!
