Chittenango students received their phone pouches on Tuesday October 14th for storing their cell phones during the school day in order to be in compliance with New York State’s new bell to bell cell phone ban.The phone pouches are black and Velcro. Many schools have yonder pouches, but we opted for the more economically reasonable option. In the halls there has been a lot of talk about people’s opinions on the pouches. Many people think they are dumb and useless, but some people think they are good.
Several students shared their opinions on the new pouches. Vincent DePaul said, “I think they’re stupid. I don’t think they help kids not be on their phones, because you can open them quietly”. Bryce Edward said, “I think they’re dumb, but I don’t really care.”.
When asked about the phone pouches, Ms Ronalds said, “I think overall, from what I’ve seen, that it seems that students were keeping them put away before the pouches, but I do think pouches are a good way for students that can’t stop going on their phone to put them in it. I don’t think everyone needs one, but the kids that can’t keep them away, they are good for.” I also interviewed Ms. Schiralli. She said, “I think they’re loud. I think they are too small for the allo technology, and students should use their lockers to keep things away.”
From the the feedback received, it seems the students do not care, but the teachers seem to care a little more and wish more people used them.
