On Saturday, October 25th, Chittenango’s cheerleading team traveled to Cicero-North Syracuse High School to compete against other cheer teams.
The day started early for the team. At 7:45 a.m. everyone met in front of the High School and entered the bus. After arriving, we had time to put our belongings down in the cafeteria, where all the other teams were also gathered. It was really fun to see our teammates meeting friends from other schools and chatting with them.
We had about an hour and a half before we needed to get ready for our performance. During that time, we got some food — including amazing Crumbl Cookies from a stand there — and went to the gym to watch other teams perform.
When it was time to prepare, we made sure our hair, makeup, and uniforms looked perfect. Then we stretched, warmed up our stunts, and walked through our routine.

Finally, it was showtime! At 1:20 p.m., we took the stage and gave it our all.
After performing, we had some free time to relax, talk, and eat in the gym. Before the awards ceremony, the DJ played music and everyone danced together, which was a lot of fun.
Then came the awards: Chittenango placed second, Phoenix took third, and Hannibal won first place. Congratulations girls!
The week after, on Saturday November first, the Chittenango Cheerleader team went to Sectionals and could defeat their title as Sectionals champs a second time in a row.

This means the cheer team is going to states in Hudson Valley this week end to compete against cheer teams from all over New York State. Wish them luck! The whole team is really looking forward to it. The ones, that already went last year and know how much fun it is are really excited that the new girls get to experience it too!
