As winter sports seasons are underway, let’s take a look at their upcoming seasons!
Chittenango Boys and Girls basketball are both looking to bounce back after a tough season last year. The boys lost in the first round of sectional play to New Hartford last year. They ended last year with an 8-11 record and look to have a good year this year as they open up with Cortland December 6th. They have four Seniors, Mason Corlis, Cole Dawkins, Andrew Kielbasa, and David Oyewole. They will be coached by first year head coach Shea Skeele. The girls, on the other hand, have five seniors. Persephone Rohrer, Savanah Haley, Vivianne Tedford, Samara McDonell, and Hannah Diceasre. The girls ended last year with a 9-11 record and will be coached by Kassie Kleine. They open up the season at Tully on December 9th!
The Boys Volleyball team is looking to three-peat as regional champions this year. They ended last year with an 18-2 record and defeated Ichabod Crane 3-0 to win the regional title. They were a perfect 21-0 in 2024, also beating Ichabod Crane to win the regional Championship. They still have tryouts so stay tuned for the roster!
The Chittenango Wrestling team opened up on Saturday and as a team placed 5th of 14 teams. Seniors Ian Bentz, Deagan Capobianco, Dan Mahle, and Kole Smith represent the senior class on the wrestling team! They look to continue the good start through the season!
The indoor track teams started their season off last Sunday at OCC. Girls are coached by Mr. Gott, and guys are coached by Mr. Lesvesque. Seniors for the girls are Avery Adams, Callie Deforest, Natalie DiGennaro, Alyssa McCombie, Allison McDonald, Ava McLean, Chloe Payton, Nora Revette, Kara Slawoniewski, Maia Tipa, and Keira Walrath. For the guys, Zach Driscoll, Bryce Edwards, Will Kimball, Josh Lin, Aaron Monaghan, and Nate Philo represent the seniors.
Finally, the boys bowling team took a tough loss last week. They are coached by Mr. Saunders, and the girls took a win and Grace Tarby led the team with 413 pins knocked down. Their lone senior Emily Sanefski also bowled a great game!
We wish all of our teams the best of luck this winter season.
