This year, I took broadcasting and when the show first took off the amazing had a great idea… Club of the Week! I thought it was a great idea and perfect for me to do. However, now it is the end of the semester and it is time for some other students to take over the weekly show. In honor of my very fun job I thought it would be fun to do a Club of the Week wrap up. If you can’t quite remember all of the amazing clubs I interviewed or maybe you just need a refresher on what they entail, stick around to find out about them!
The first club I interviewed was Yearbook club. There are many things you can involve yourself with. Some of the positions are photographer, page designer, and editor. You can also help make designs, writing, taking photos, and layouts. The year book is entirely made by students so if that sounds like fun to you, stop by Mrs. O’ Rourkes with any questions!
Another amazing club is the B Squad. B Squad is based on acts of positivity. It first started with a girl named Rachel who loved spreading kindness and positivity. In honor of her the club is now in Chittenango high school. The club is here to create unity and character building and its goal is to show people that they matter.
Next up is Mock trial. If being a lawyer interests you and you would like some experience, there is no better club to do the job! In this club you will create scripts, prepare questions and arguments, and best yet, compete against different schools using all of the data you prepare. There are 3 roles, lawyers, witnesses, and the “Think Tank”. The club uses real cases and real New York State laws in their arguments. That’s what makes this club so amazing.
Does the student council interest you? This club focuses on what they could do to help the community whether that’s in school or outside of school. Last year, a school in North Carolina was devastated by a hurricane. To help out, the student council helped raise money to help the school. They also do Toys for Tots which is where you donate toys to different age ranges so kids can have a good Christmas. It is a great thing to be involved in.
I also checked out math club and select choir which are both very fun, so if you are interested in learning more about either of those clubs check out Bearden Video to see the interview and get informed on just how many amazing clubs you can be a part of!
