On Sunday June 7th, the 79th annual Tony Awards took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Millions of actors, crew members and theater fans alike across the world tuned in to watch the biggest night in theater unfold. Brand new musicals like The Lost Boys, Schmigadoon, Two Strangers (Carrying a Cake Across New York) and Titaníque, accompanied by a few beloved revivals that brought a fresh coat of paint to some well loved favorites like the newest spin on Andrew Loyd Webber’s Cats and the monumental Ragtime were eligible for numerous awards. Show stopping performances from not only the casts of these shows but also host P!nk rocked Radio City and stunned audiences nationwide. The Tony’s aren’t all about musicals. Many Plays were also eligible for awards this season. Namely Giant, a revival of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman, and a spin on a classic Oedipus.
