In Chittenango, New York, the weather this fall has been very calm and clear, only just this month getting cold enough and rainy enough to snow. Though the weather has been rather windy this fall, most of the season has been clear and the temperature has been in the 40s and 50s. More recently this month, the temperature has dropped down to the low 30s and even the high 20s, snowing for the first time on November 10th. The lowest temperature ever recorded in Chittenango during the fall is -16 degrees! The people residing around the Chittenango area were suddenly hit overnight with about seven inches of snow, and the grounds were completely covered with white sheets of the cold, intricate flakes. The last time that much snow hit during November in Chittenango was in 2022, when about 12 inches hit the area. The next week is forecasted to rain almost every day, which is likely to cause dangerous ice to form on roads, driveways, and porches.
Although the weather seems to be losing its calm now, it was a great opportunity for the coaches and athletes at Chittenango High School to have steady fall sports from September through October. The coaches and athletes are grateful for the smooth weathered fall this year, getting to use the new turf at the school, and they hope for another good season next year. The weather this fall has had an excellent start with decent weather and temperature, and now seems to be shifting towards its colder and snowier days.
