This year Chittenango high school welcomes new staff to our building. Mr. Duffy and Mrs. Duffy, a married couple, were sad to leave their friends in Rome. But will they love being a bear? On Friday September 12th at 7:40 am I interviewed Mr. Duffy and Mrs. Duffy. They seemed very excited to meet a new face, and they even were telling me about their very cute dog, Wonder! I got to see an adorable picture of him! During the interview we talked about what they like about Chittenango, why they wanted to become teachers, and who were the people they connected with most so far at Chittenango.
Mrs. Duffy teaches biology at the High School. She is very excited to connect with new teachers and students. Mrs. Duffy has a love for biology, because she loves teaching about the living sciences and animals/ DNA. While Mr. Duffy teaches academic achievement and resource (a supportive study hall for students). With his love of helping other students, he is more than fit for this role.
During the first part of the interview we talked about what interested them into teaching. Mrs. Duffy explained how she didn’t know what she wanted to teach at first. However, even though she was unsure she fell in love with teaching and now feels very comfortable and confident in her teaching skills. On the other hand, Mr. Duffy knew he wanted to be a teacher since junior high! He loves working with others and has a passion for learning new things with others. He enjoys making people happy to learn about new things!
Mr. Duffy and Mrs. Duffy both had connections with parents and the community members in Chittenango due to their children going to Chittenango. But there are more than just those connections now; Mr. Duffy speaks very highly of one of Chittenango’s high school science teachers, Ms. Cosbey! Ms. Cosbey and him both work together to teach forensics. He loves teaching with Ms. Cosbey! Meanwhile Mrs. Duffy loves working closely with Mrs. Duke, who is another biology teacher at Chittenango high school!
We hope Mr and Ms. Duffy become strong proud Chittenango Bears!
